Neck pain has become remarkably common, and modern life is a big reason why. Long hours bent over phones, laptops and screens keep the neck in one strained position for far too long, and across Kakkanad and Kochi more and more people, including young office workers and students, are feeling the effects. The good news is that most neck pain is not serious and responds very well to the right physiotherapy.
At Proud Physio & Wellness, led by Dr. Noora Ameen TA (PT), we find the true source of your neck pain, ease it with skilled hands-on treatment and then build the strength and posture that keep it from coming back.
What Is Neck Pain?
Neck pain is discomfort in the cervical spine, the seven small vertebrae, joints, discs, muscles and nerves that support the head and let it move. Because the neck is both mobile and delicate, it is easily irritated by posture, strain and wear over time. Tech neck describes the strain that builds from constantly looking down at devices. Cervical spondylosis is age-related wear of the joints and discs, very common after the age of forty and often manageable without any surgery.
Whiplash follows a sudden jolt, such as a road accident, that strains the neck's soft tissues. Sometimes an irritated nerve or joint in the neck refers pain into the shoulder or arm, or triggers cervicogenic headaches felt at the base of the skull. Whatever the pattern, a clear assessment tells us exactly what is happening and how to treat it.
How Neck Pain Affects You
Neck pain shows up in several ways, and your particular pattern guides our treatment:
Most of these settle well with treatment. We stay alert to the few symptoms that need medical review, and we will always guide you promptly if anything suggests your neck needs further attention.
How Physiotherapy Helps Neck Pain
Neck pain rarely responds to rest and painkillers alone. What genuinely works is a combination of skilled hands-on treatment and a targeted strengthening and posture programme that changes the loads your neck faces every day. Physiotherapy tackles the real causes, stiff joints, weak deep neck muscles, tight overworked muscles and poor posture, and restores comfortable, confident movement.
The neck does not need to be rested, it needs to be moved well and supported by strength. That is what turns short-term relief into a lasting fix.
Through hands-on musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy we free stiff joints and release tight muscles to settle the pain quickly. We then guide you through gentle strengthening of the deep stabilising muscles, and our posture correction work retrains how you hold your head and neck through the day so tech neck does not return.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can physiotherapy really fix tech neck?
Yes. Tech neck is caused by sustained strain and weak supporting muscles, both of which physiotherapy addresses directly. With hands-on treatment, targeted strengthening and better screen habits, most people see clear, lasting improvement rather than just temporary relief.
Is cervical spondylosis something I have to live with?
Not at all. Cervical spondylosis is common age-related wear, and while we cannot reverse the changes on a scan, physiotherapy manages the symptoms very effectively. Most people regain comfortable movement and stay active without needing surgery.
Can neck problems cause my headaches?
They can. Cervicogenic headaches arise from irritated joints and muscles in the upper neck and are often felt at the base of the skull. When the neck is the source, treating it directly with physiotherapy frequently reduces or resolves these headaches.
My arm tingles along with my neck pain. Is that serious?
Tingling into the arm usually means a neck nerve is irritated, which often responds well to physiotherapy. We assess it carefully, treat the source and monitor your progress, and we will refer you promptly in the uncommon event that anything needs further medical review.
